Modern Slavery Statement
Introduction
Modern slavery is an international crime, a violation of fundamental human rights and is estimated to affect more than 29 million people worldwide. There are many forms of modern slavery, such as slavery, servitude, forced labour and human trafficking but the common theme is someone depriving another person of their liberty for personal or commercial gain.
MC Group Limited has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically in all our business dealings and ensuring that we have systems and processes in place to ensure modern slavery is not occurring anywhere within our business or supply chain.
Group Structure
MC Group Limited is the holding company for two trading subsidiaries. MC Truck & Bus Limited is primarily a Volvo and Isuzu truck dealer operating in the south-east of England, and MC Rental Limited is a contract hire business in the commercial sector. The Group employs around 320 staff across 7 sites, which are all in the south-east of England.
Supply Chain
The Group’s primary suppliers are Volvo Group (UK) and Isuzu Motors, who supply the Group commercial vehicles and parts and under whose franchise agreements we operate. The MC Rental business also acquires commercial vehicles from various other global manufacturers, which are then rented out to our customers.
Anti-Slavery Policies
The Group is committed to ensuring that no modern slavery is occurring within our supply chain or in any part of our business and to this end have adopted an anti-slavery policy, which has been communicated to all our staff.
Procedures
The Group operate a robust recruitment process in accordance with UK legislation, including ID checks and ensuring everyone employed is over the age of 16.
A review of our supply chain identified that 1,206 suppliers were used during 2023, with a combined spend of around £118 million. Of the supply chain most are located within the UK with the remainder EU based and are considered low risk. The largest 30 suppliers accounted for 93% of the total spend. A review was undertaken of these suppliers to ensure they have robust anti-slavery procedures in place.
Training
To ensure modern slavery is understood by our staff we have provided training to staff to raise awareness and highlight any concerns they may have. Training is also provided to all new members of staff as part of our induction process.
Effectiveness in Combating Modern Slavery
No instances have been identified within our supply chain of modern slavery, so we have not considered it necessary to adopt any formal KPI’s, though we intend to keep this under review.
Approval
This statement is made under section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 December 2023.
